Evergreen holiday decorations sold at chain retailers in Wisconsin have been discovered to have elongate hemlock scale (EHS), an invasive insect. To prevent the spread of this insect, dispose of your evergreen decorations properly when you take them down at the end of this holiday season. If possible, burn the decorations. If burning is not an option, bag the decorations and throw them in the trash. DO NOT dispose of decorations in a compost pile, as the insects may spread from there.
