New challenges will be posted each month. These challenges are open to youth of all ages (unless noted).


June Challenges

4-H WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE

Build your photography skills! Take one photo each week and we will share them with St. Croix County.

You will learn a different skill each week – composition, lighting and more. We will share all photos on social media and pick a winner each week. With 12 weeks of summer that will provide us with 12 winners. These winning photographs will be complied into a 2021 St. Croix County 4-H Calendar.

This will be an ongoing challenge so youth can register at anytime. Once you are registered, information will be sent to you on where to post your weekly submissions. Submissions are due each week by noon on Sunday.

4-H VIRTUAL FISHING CHALLENGE

The 4-H biggest catch virtual fishing challenge opens in just a few shorts days. All 4-Her’s are welcome to register. When you make a catch you will need to do it alone. Then you can take a picture, measure the fish, tell us what kind of fish it is, and submit your entry (only one entry per youth). Once you have registered for this challenge we will send you more information. We will break youth out by age and choose 4 winners. All winners will receive a prize.

Age Groups:

Cloverbud (K—2grade)

3rd—5th grade

6th—8th grade

9th—13th grade

Challenge opens June 9 and will close July 10.

Remember, all participants are to follow all state requirements for fishing license and permits, as well as quantity and size limits.


4-H GIANT VEGETABLE CONTEST

Try out your green thumb this summer and grow some enormous vegetables. Before you harvest, take a picture, measure your vegetable, and submit your entry (youth can enter once per category). Categories are listed below. Once you have registered for this challenge we will send you more information. We will choose a winner for each category to win some amazing prizes.

Pumpkins, Onions, Squash / Gourds Cucumbers

Potatoes, Zucchini / Eggplant, Corn, Tomatoes

Peppers, Carrots, Broccoli / Cauliflower, Asparagus

4-H RECIPE CHALLENGE

Do you love to cook? Bake?

Then this is the challenge for you. A new recipe challenge will be added each week. Whip up the recipe (maybe get creative an add your own twist to it), take a picture of your completed recipe, tell us what you learned from making the recipe, and submit it. This is a great way to advance your culinary skills.

Once you have registered for this challenge we will send you more information. This is an on going challenge and youth can register at anytime.


4-H CLOVERBUD COLORING CHALLENGE

Join in the fun and color a 4-H masterpiece. Print off the coloring sheet listed below and create an outstanding colored picture. Take a picture of it and submit it for a prize. Once you have registered for this challenge we will send you more information. Only one entry per youth. This challenge will open on June 9 and close on June 30.

July Challenges

4-H Art Challenge

Get ready to showcase your artistic skills in the drawing and painting projects. This will be a Nailed Itchallenge. A nailed itchallenge means that you are given an example of the project. The goal is to create your own masterpiece that is a copy of the example (you want to get it as close to the original as you can). Group are divided out into beginner, intermediate, and advanced projects. Youth will receive 4 options for both drawing and painting for each level. Pick one or more pictures and complete your own masterpiece. Youth who participate will receive art related prizes.


4H science, technology engineering and math (STEM) teaches problemsolving skills you will use in many ways! You’ll learn about science and math, of course. 4H STEM experiences are also fun ways to learn about how to apply STEM knowledge in life and in a future career. A new STEM challenge will be added weekly through the month of July. Do them with your whole family using supplies that you may have onhand at home. Youth that complete all 4H STEM projects will receive a 4H Game Changer Kit in the mail. To register for this challenge go to https://forms.gle/quDpgB6yueJYczNs6 .

 


4-H Sewing Challenge

Do you enjoy sewing? If so, get ready for the 4H Sewing Challenge. Beginners to advance sewers can participate in this 6 week challenge. A sewing machine is required for this challenge. Each week youth will be sent a new sewing project. Sewing projects will be a combination of Home Environment and Clothing projects. Youth who complete all of the projects will receive some awesome sewing related prizes. Once you have registered you will receive more information.


4-H Lego Challenge

Ready, Set, Go! A LEGO Challenge for all LEGO lovers. Participants will be able to pick and choose from six different LEGO categories. Participate in one or all six. We will pick a winner from each cate-gory. All entries must be original. You may not use a purchased kit. Winners will receive a new LEGO kit.

4-H Woodworking Challenge

Get out your tools and join the Woodworking Challenge. For this challenge youth will get to choose between a blue bird house, an owl house, a butterfly house, and/or a bat house. Youth will be provided with instructions for each separate build and expected to acquire the needed materials to create the house they select. All youth are welcome to join in. Cloverbud Fort Challenge

Welcome to the Cloverbud Fort Challenge. Here is your chance to design and build the best fort imaginable. Find items around your house to complete this project. Upload a picture of your creation for all to see.

  • What will you use this fort for?
  • Is it permanent or temporary?
  • Is it for one person or many?

4-H CAMPFIRE CHALLENGE!

There is one month of summer left. Lets get outside and do some camping. This will be a 4 week challenge. Each week offering you a new campfire experience.

  • Week 1— Build a Campfire (with adult help)
  • Week 2—Best Pudgy Pie or Smores Recipe
  • Week 3—Create a Campfire Craft
  • Week 4—Best Campfire Song / Story

Youth will receive more information once they are registered. Youth who complete all 4 weeks of challenges will receive an awesome camping prize.

 


4-H Sewing Challenge

Get out your needles and yarn and enter the knitting / crocheting challenge to test your knitting and crocheting skills. Youth will have 3 different options to pick from depending on your skill level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). All youth who participate will receive a project related prize. Show us your cake decorating skills. Youth will have an opportunity to enter the following categories (you can enter 1 or all of them). Upload photos of your completed creations. Youth will be judged on decorating skills, design, difficulty, and originality. Register today and get decorating!

4-H Recycling Challenge

Plastic is everywhere! Bottles and containers, toys and packaging… plastic makes life better AND creates a huge problem for our earth. Single-use plastics make up over 40% of our garbage. We recycle too little of what could be recycled. How are you and your family using plastic? Explore your own use and increase their knowledge of the wide world of plastics. Make an amazing piece of art by repurposing (upcycling) single-use plastics! Use plastic you find to create your art sculpture on a theme or message you’d like to use. Examples of plastics you could use: cups, bottles, bags, bottle caps, take-out containers, pieces of old toys and anything made of plastic that you find in your house or yard.
